Stresses on simple, fast and error-free verification process

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 22 (KNO) : Minister for Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Floriculture Javaid Mustafa Mir today chaired a meeting to review the progress achieved under “Central assistance as One Time Settlement to the displaced persons of PoJK and Chhamb”. During the meeting, the Minister stressed on regular updation of status of cases on Department`s website clearly mentioning the number of cases received and the deficiencies if any for their rejection as the amount of Central assistance per family will be distributed through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) method to the eligible beneficiary after proper identification through credible & verifiable documents. Mir further directed the concerned Deputy Commissioners to verify the antecedents of the DPs who are eligible for this scheme and stressed on making verification process simple, fast and error-free so that these cases can be settled in a transparent manner on fast track mode.

It was informed that this relief to DPs is a component of PM`s Development Package for J&K which aims to provide supplementary financial assistance so as to enable the displaced families to run small business or to undertake scientific farming, livestock or other land-based activities, which can provide the displaced families some assured and sustained earning.

With regard to early disposal of pending cases, the Minister asked the Chief Secretary to take up issue with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Hemant Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Rajiv Ranjan, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda, AC Divisional Commissioner Office Jammu, ACRs of Jammu, Samba & Kathua besides Provincial Rehabilitation Officer were present in the meeting.(KNO)
